Our family welcomes you to stay at our property and enjoy a slice of our Portland, Oregon life.
We live in a quiet residential neighborhood where the sounds you are most likely to encounter are
the distant squawks of our backyard chickens, the pitter-patter of raindrops on the skylight,
or the occasional children's squeal or dog bark.
This inviting studio loft welcomes you with luxurious, modern amenities
and a bright, cozy ambiance.

About The Space
We have converted a loft above our garage using all new construction and furnishings to give you a truly luxurious and modern get-away experience. The interior style is meant to make you feel refreshed, energized and comfortable. You have your choice of flooding sunshine or blackout darkness with our flexible window options/features. The 340 sq. ft. space resembles a studio loft that offers an open floor plan with a vaulted ceiling and a private full bathroom with tiled shower/tub. The central skylight offers a partial view of very old Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar trees off to the west. To the east, you have views of the top of our nearby extinct volcano, Mt. Tabor (which also happens to offer numerous hiking paths and a gorgeous view of downtown Portland and the sunset).
For sleeping we can accommodate up to four people, though it is most comfortable for two. We offer a queen bed and queen-sized sleeper sofa. The queen bed is constructed with headboard shelves to easily contain personal items including books, charging cords and even C-Pap machines. With the memory foam mattress topper on our bed, "best night's sleep" is one of the top compliments we receive.
Main area amenities include: a 40” flat screen Smart TV on wheels (watch from anywhere!) which offers Satellite DIRECTV with 150+ channels plus apps (like Netflix, Hulu) to stream your favorite shows (using your personal subscriptions). Our unit also offers free Wi-Fi, automatic room-darkening window blinds, heat & A/C, ceiling fan, and indoor air-purifying plants.
The full kitchen offers an extensive array of tools and cookware. Complimentary offerings include Stumptown coffee, Starbucks Hot Chocolate, Stash tea, & fresh fruit (and usually a few more surprises). Kitchen appliances include a refrigerator, freezer, range, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster, and state of the art Multi-Pure water filtration system.
Parking for our guests is FREE and available on the street.
Uber and Lyft rides are readily available.
There are 3 frequent-service (15 min. interval) bus lines less than a half-mile away:
Hawthorne (#14), Division (FX#2), Cesar Chavez (#75).
We are a 15 minute drive to the airport, downtown and the Convention Center. There is a Max train and a Trimet bus requiring one transfer to our house from the airport. The estimated transit time is 43 minutes.

Walk, bike & transit maps are available onsite.

We are located in the Hawthorne/Richmond Neighborhood - an area concentrated with destination restaurants (Por Que No?, Apizza Scholls, Original Stumptown Coffee, Bollywood Theatre), boutique coffee shops (Common Grounds, Albina Press), independent gyms, record and music stores, and even an arcade. We are also home to a vibrant and hip shopping district that includes Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads Trading, Powell's Bookstore (annex), and a host of other toy, thrift, gift, jewelry and spiritual shops sprinkled in between. Within a mile, you can also meet your basic needs with grocery stores, pharmacies, laundromats, and a UPS store. The nearest hospital is just over 1 mile away. This newer, short-term rental is our go-to spot whenever we visit our daughter in Portland. The owner, Angela, has created a spacious, sunlit, and thoughtfully-designed and furnished space over the family’s detached garage, equipped with every amenity you might want for a completely comfortable, home-away-from-home stay. From Welcome Snacks, to the well-labeled and well-stocked kitchen amenities, to the binder with suggestions for local restaurants and “how-to” instructions, Angela has thought of everything you could want to make this space a pleasant base from which to enjoy all that Portland has to offer. And if you have questions, she is a good communicator who is quick to respond! Street parking is easy and the apartment is immaculately clean. There are several grocery stores nearby. The apartment includes some games, a TV, local magazines, and some workout equipment, plus comfy bathrobes for lounging. Outside are lots of cute older homes, beautiful trees and gardens, and even some backyard chickens! We could not recommend Jewel in the Sky more highly!

This is a lovely place to stay. Angela has supplied all kinds of “luxe” comforts, so it lives up to its name. A bidet with remote control and a heated seat! Lovely bed. All kinds of kitchen utensils and appliances and a sweet snack basket. Angela was very responsive to any questions I had. I will happily stay here again on my next visit to Portland.

This was easily the best stay ive ever had at a place other than home. Angela was so Friendly and helpful making sure we knew how to get in correctly, giving us instructions for how to use everything in the unit, and making sure we had everything we needed. The unit itself is just amazing too! It had everything we could have needed, such as an Oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer & dryer combo, clothes iron, and a tv with any channel you need. What I appriciated most about this unit was that it has a FULL kitchen inlcluding things like a full knife sets, full eating and cooking utensil sets, Pots and pans set, spice rack, and a complete set of ceramic bowls, plates, ect. We were able to cook full meals the entirety of our stay. They were even nice enough to provide coffee, tea, and some snacks! Cant reccomend this unit enough and cant thank Angela enough for having us. Would love to come here again!
P.s. Your chickens are beautiful!

I had a wonderful stay at Angela‘s place. It lives up to its name as a Luxe loft in every sense of the word. Everything was such good quality from the comfy bed with a fantastic down comforter and pillows to the fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to make full meals. And, everything was spotless! But most importantly, Angela was a fantastic host. She was so welcoming and friendly and always responded quickly to my questions and needs. She was also very gracious with her time to chat with me about Portland. You can see that she really takes pride in her accommodations. I highly recommend her place and would definitely come back.

Angela is a fantastic host and her place is very well designed and described very accurately. She takes advantage of a small space by having an extremely clean and organized space with lots of amenities tucked into little corners here and there. Everything was very well-labeled and very well-stocked. The little touches like a small continental breakfast with fresh fruit, sparkling water, and coffee made our first morning there very cozy . She was also extremely communicative and really concerned about making sure that we have a top notch experience. We really enjoyed our stay at Angela ‘s place!

Angela is a wonderful hostess. Her place was perfect for us to stay while visiting our daughter who lives close by.
Angela went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. Angela has thought of many details in her Airbnb to make your stay easy and restful. A fully equipped kitchen ample cutlery and crockery. A welcome basket, a complimentary continental breakfast, a drip coffee machine and a French press and coffee from a local roaster. There are so many things I loved about her place, blinds that worked by remote, filtered water, plenty of towels, exercise equipment and games. The Airbnb is located close to some great coffee shops, grocery stores and restaurants. I enjoyed early morning walks to Mt. Tabor and the neighborhood. Our stay was extremely pleasant and hope to stay here on our next visit to Portland, Oregon.

Angela's Loft is wonderful. The perfect space and experience. My wife, infant, and I stayed several nights. This is exactly what we are looking for when we rent a space. Inviting, well stocked, comfortable, great light (and dark), comfortable bed, wonderful water pressure and temperature, full kitchen. Angela is a perfect host; she proactively provides helpful information and responds to messages quickly, offers local suggestions and insights, and creates a welcoming and private experience. The location is perfect for experiencing what SE Portland has to offer. Close to Mt. Tabor and countless food, drink, and shopping must visits. Easy walk to Hawthorne, near public transportation, easy parking by the place, and near popular and convenient roads to connect to the different parts of Portland.

Angela’s place was a wonderful and thoughtfully designed home base for our visit to Portland. A few standouts: fresh fruit and a few breakfast items (especially welcome when traveling from the east coast and awake several hours before anywhere is open); tissues (why are there never tissues?); slippers (much appreciated in a no shoes house with tile floors); ziplock bags/food storage; yoga mat and blocks. The space was comfortable and cozy. Angela was very responsive when we had a bit of trouble with the keypad and made sure we were taken care of. We’d definitely stay again!

I am mom of two teenage boys and a lover of adventure - a midwestern girl at heart, with a Pacific Northwest flavor swirled in. My background is in nutrition and business, so while I didn't expect to be running a short-term rental, it has been a blessing to allow me to be at home with my children when they were younger. Now, I endeavor to teach them everyday the importance of making the world a better place. These days, I stay busy health coaching, volunteering, gardening, cooking up new cuisines and running the household, but I hope to be able to say "Hi!" during your visit.
